My kids are a little fruity!

Yesterday a fun package came in the mail for my kids - 2 boxes of fruit-flavored snacks from Betty Crocker, via MyBlogSpark.  My kids LOVE "gummies", as we affectionately call them at our house; so they were thrilled.  We received one box of Fruit Roll-ups and one box of Fruit By the Foot.  Would you believe that today, just one day later, there are only a few Fruit Roll-ups left?!

I bet you're wondering why I got free fruit snacks, aren't you?  It's because Betty Crocker is hosting a contest (via their fruit snack boxes) and they want to spread the word!  From now through May 30th, each day one lucky winner in the U.S. will win a new laptop computer.  But, the cool thing is that, for each U.S. winner, Betty Crocker will also donate a free laptop computer to a child in Africa.  This is through an organization called One Laptop Per Child.

Here is some video footage showing the great work that One Laptop Per Child is doing in Africa:

In addition to the 2 free boxes of fruit snacks I received, a donation of  $25 was made on my behalf to One Laptop Per Child.

Guess what?!  I have 2 boxes of fruit snacks to give away to one lucky winner!  (A $25 donation to One Laptop Per Child will also be made on the winner's behalf.)  If you'd like to win, simply leave me a comment telling me of one way that you are trying to teach your children to help others.

If you'd like additional chances to win, here they are (leave a separate comment for each one that you fulfill):
  • blog about this contest with a link back to this post
  • tweet about this contest with a link to this post
  • share about this contest via Facebook with a link to this post
  • follow my blog
Good luck!  I'll accept comments until next Tuesday, the 16th - at which time I'll do a random drawing and announce the winner.

How fun! The laptop program sounds fantastic! :)

One way we have tried to teach our kids to help others is by doing shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. Also...for Christmas, in honor of some family members we sent money via Samaritan's Purse to buy chickens for a family overseas and also for necessities for under-priviledged children in the US. :)

Well that is easy for me to answer. My family has been put in a place due to Scott's health that we had to allow God to use friends to help us with food and money to pay bills. We have been in the place of receiving so giving back is kinda like a repayment of kindness. An example is that we worked at a food pantry last Wednesday for 2 hours. We know the families receiving the food will be blessed. Folks would be shocked what something little can do for someone who is hurting. Lorna Holcombe

We sponsor a child through Compassion, International and write letters to her. (We requested a child in Guatemala, since that is where Emily is from.)
