It’s Friday again, and time for all these great memes! We’ll get started with Five Question Friday ---
1. What was the first car you owned?
A 1988 1/2 Ford Escort Pony – red with the “sport” decal along the sides. I bought it brand new and loved that car. It was a 4-speed. We had that car up until 2001, when we traded it in on our first van. I went to the car dealership a few times after the trade-in, just to see it. I wanted Brian to let me keep it “just because”, but he said “no”. :)
2. What song are you embarrassed to know the lyrics to?
I can’t really think of any single song that I know that embarrasses me. I still know lots of 80’s songs (or they come back to me when I hear them); but none are really embarrassing, I guess. It’s just testament of the fact that I love music.
3. Have you ever had stitches?
I should have had them in the 5th grade, when I cut my wrist with a razor knife in art class (now, I have a 5th grader and I’m wondering what the heck our art teacher was thinking – giving us razor knives to cut cardboard boxes with – the combination of that and left-handedness did not agree with me). My mom knew I’d flip though; and, being the nurse that she is, she fixed me up with butterfly bandages (and, yes, I still have the scar!)
I had stitches in my mouth when I had my wisdom teeth removed.
I had internal, dissolving stitches when I had my tubal pregnancy emergency surgery.
4. What was your first job?
(Besides babysitting . . . ) Working in the ice cream stand at a local campground. I blew up many a milkshake that summer! I also remember getting reprimanded once – there were only 3 of us that shared that job and apparently all the campers were buying ice cream during MY shift – so I had to cut back on the size of my scoops. LOL Personally, I think the other two should have made their scoops bigger because, well, you can never have too much ice cream, right?!
5. Who is your favorite Sesame Street character?
When I was little, I wasn’t a big fan of Sesame Street. I liked the “real” part – when they were on the street – but I didn’t like how the show flipped around so much. I preferred Mr. Rodgers, truth be told. :) Anyway, if I had to choose a favorite character, I’d probably say Snuffleupagus. Back when I was a kid, he was still portrayed as Big Bird’s imaginary friend.
None of my kids have been big fans of Sesame Street either. Ashley, though, decided that she wanted a Tickle Me Elmo when she was little, so we made her save her money to buy one. At the time, Toss & Tickle Me Elmo had just come out, so that’s what she picked. She and I went to buy it one Saturday night while Brian was at the races, brought him home, unpackaged him, and the first time he said “Toss Elmo” she tossed him up and he came right down and landed on her nose (the battery pack in his butt was quite hard). I thought sure it broke her nose. Needless to say, she NEVER picked him up again, and he was given to the local thrift shop! He really should have been outlawed!
