Blast From the Past – Christmas in July

Wonder why I’m wearing shorts and  visiting with Santa?  It’s because it’s summer!  My mom has this picture marked “1978” on the back.  That summer, we visited North Pole, NY.  Unfortunately, I don’t remember much about it.  Guess that’s what pictures are for. :)

My t-shirt says Little Buffalo State Park.  I think I had a never-ending supply of these shirts because my aunt & uncle had the contract for the concession stand by the pool for 5 years.  My uncle drew the “little buffalo” and designed the shirts.  Funny thing is, there are still some of these t-shirts floating around in our family!  LOL

Blast from the Past 6/28/10

Blast From the Past Blog Button - mom

This past Friday, Ashley and I drove to TN for business meetings with my bosses from The Old Schoolhouse Magazine.  It’s supposed to be an 8-hour drive, one way; but when you get two girls filled with coffee in a car, many potty stops are required along the way!  We spent 2 nights and headed up yesterday.  This picture reminds me a bit of the way I feel today, so I thought I’d share.  I haven’t actually done this yet this afternoon, but I sure could ---

My mom has the back of this picture marked “After family picnic, June 1974”.  I know I wore that dress for my 3-year pictures; but I would have been 4 in this picture.  Hence, the major shortness!  It kinda reminds me of something Cindy Brady would have worn, don’t you agree?

And how ‘bout those shoes?  My mom is always saying things like “Don’t make fun!  I dressed you cute,” and I know she’s probably right and my kids will look back at old pictures someday and say “What were you thinking?!” but those just remind me of something you’d see at the bowling alley!

Blast from the Past 6/21/10

Blast From the Past Blog Button - mom

Last week, I shared a picture of me and my dad kissing, in honor of the upcoming Father’s Day holiday.  This week, Debbie shared a sweet picture with her dad.  So, I guess I’ll follow suit and share another picture of me and my dad – kissing – again!

I’ve got braided rugs on my brain as I’ve been at the craft shop twice in the last month, trying to select one to order for my living room.  I wish I had this old one.  Wonder whatever happened to it?  The couch in this picture was actually reupholstered in later years and Brian and I brought it with us when we first started housekeeping.  And that doll – anyone recognize her?  It’s Baby Tender Love.  I did love her; but over the years her “skin” developed these black pin-prick-like dots all over it.  And that hair = uncontrollable!

Blast from the Past 6/14/10

Blast From the Past Blog Button - mom

It’s been awhile since I’ve participated in Debbie’s Blast from the Past meme.  When my mom took me away for my 40th birthday, she gave me an envelope with some pictures from my childhood.  This morning, I asked Ashley to scan them all for me – I thought they’d make great Blast from the Past material.

Since Father’s Day is just around the corner, I thought I’d start off with a picture of me and my Dad ---

This picture was taken in 1973 (I was 3).  Don’t you just love my dad’s sideburns?  And that charcoal grill?  He’s graduated to a gas grill and enjoys making steaks (and other yummy things) on his Weber these days.
