TTT ~ Three Caballeros

Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia_thumb

Special thanks to my friends – Jodi @ Magical Mouse Schoolhouse, Mike @ My Dreams of Disney, and Jennifer @ Disney Babies Blog – for co-hosting this fun meme!

Did you know? Even though the Three Caballeros’ attraction is in Mexico, Panchito is the only Mexican among the three.  Jose is Brazilian and Donald is American.

Disney World Day 2 2012 019

Does your family enjoy this attraction at Epcot?  We do!

TTT ~ The Santa Clause

Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia

Special thanks to my friends – Jodi @ Magical Mouse Schoolhouse, Mike @ My Dreams of Disney, and Jennifer @ Disney Babies Blog – for co-hosting this fun meme!

Did you know? In the movie The Santa Clause, Scott Calvin (played by actor Tim Allen) places a tool belt around his waist in one of the scenes – a direct reference to Allen’s television series, Home Improvement.

TTT ~ Merry Christmas!

In 1995, Walt Disney World purchased The Osborne Family Spectacle of Lights from the Jennings Osborne family in Arkansas; and brought it to Hollywood Studios.  That holiday season, more than four million lights adorned Residential Street, making it the third largest attraction in the park!  Since then, the show has grown to over five million lights, and Disney has enhanced the spectacle with free holographic glasses and nightly “snowfalls”!

My family has yet to enjoy this “spectacle” but we hope to do so next year!  (For more on the backstory of this attraction, see Lou’s book – linked  below.)

TTT ~ Nutcracker Suite

Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia_thumb

Special thanks to my friends – Jodi @ Magical Mouse Schoolhouse, Mike @ My Dreams of Disney, and Jennifer @ Disney Babies Blog – for co-hosting this fun meme!

Did you know? When visiting the Downtown Disney Marketplace, you’ll find references to “The Nutcracker Suite” segment of Fantasia.

If you enter Disney’s Days of Christmas through the first door on your left hand side while coming from the Marketplace bus stop, you can find the fairies from “The Nutcracker Suite” on the ceiling.

In the “Magic Room” in World of Disney, you can find Sorcerer Mickey and the fairies on the ceiling.

While none of the rest of my family have been big fans of Fantasia, Ian has enjoyed the movie!  To the point that the rest of us have groaned with “not again” or “still?!” on many occasions.  Fortunately, our copy is on VHS – and we only have a VCR in his room anymore.  Phew!

TTT ~ Animal Caretakers at AK

Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia_thumb

Special thanks to my friends – Jodi @ Magical Mouse Schoolhouse, Mike @ My Dreams of Disney, and Jennifer @ Disney Babies Blog – for co-hosting this fun meme!

Did you know?  When a Disney Cast Member is “on stage” in any of the parks, he or she will always be wearing a name badge.  However, there is one exception: the animal caretakers at Animal Kingdom do not wear the iconic badge, which proves too tempting for their charges.  Instead, they have an embroidered badge sewn onto their shirts.

TTT ~ Mickey Mouse

Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia

Special thanks to my friends – Jodi @ Magical Mouse Schoolhouse, Mike @ My Dreams of Disney, and Jennifer @ Disney Babies Blog – for co-hosting this fun meme!

Did you know? Sure, everyone loves Mickey Mouse now, but exactly who was he originally?!  “According to Walt Disney, the idea for Mickey Mouse came to him while traveling on a train from New York back to California.  He had just lost his rights to Oswald the Lucky Rabbit and he came up with the idea for the mouse.  He originally called him Mortimer, but his wife, Lillian, convinced him to change it to Mickey Mouse because it sounded cuter.”

And I, for one, am so glad she did!  We love Mickey!  In fact, he is one of my family’s top priorities when visiting the Disney parks.  Gotta meet Mickey!

TTT ~ Monorail

Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia

Did you know? The original monorail loop – connecting the Transportation and Ticket Center, the resort hotels, and the Magic Kingdom – consisted of 337 individual track beams, each of which was 85 to 110 feet long.  They were made of concrete with a foamed polystyrene core to lighten the weight to a feathery 55 tons.

In honor of Magical Blogorail ORANGE, which runs today.

TTT ~ Cars

Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia

Did you know? If you take a look at the blimp and tires used throughout the film, you will notice they are actually provided by the “Lightyear” company, a nod to Buzz Lightyear (from Toy Story).

Since we are big fans of both movies, I find this interesting – I always love how the Pixar films are all tied together in “hidden” ways.  My daughter Gracie is always on the hunt to find the secrets hidden in these movies!

TTT ~ Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster (2)

Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia

Did you know? Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, as five specially recorded Aerosmith sound tracks – each Limotrain features a different Aerosmith song.  Lead singer Steven Tyler and guitarist Joe Perry recorded custom lyrics and riffs for each tune.

TTT ~ Tree of Life

Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia_thumb

Did you know? There are a total of 325 animals carved into the Tree of Life at Disney’s Animal Kingdom (according to the Walt Disney World website).  Disney has never released a list of the animals because they want Guests to have fun trying to find as many as they can!*

One of the great things about an early breakfast reservation at Tusker House is the chance to see the Tree of Life virtually unobstructed – no people in front of it!

TTT ~ Turkey Legs

Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia_thumb

Did you know? The world famous turkey legs sold throughout WDW come from 40- to 50-pound turkeys.  Every 1.5-pound leg is injected with a salt water cure and cooked for 6 hours.*

Hmmm . . . not sure if this is good or bad, but it’s certainly interesting, right?

TTT ~ Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster

Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia_thumb

Did you know? When the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith was being built, there was a great deal of concern among Disney engineers that the nearby Twilight Zone Tower of Terror’s two elevator drops, coupled with the energy needed for the roller coaster’s launch, might actually bring down the entire Studio’s power grid! So a new electrical substation was built just to power the coaster!*

Wow, I wish the engineers who built my house in 1929 would have thought of that.  We have power outages here all the time – especially when someone tries to make toast while someone else is drying their hair!  Craziness!  I’m so glad Disney thought of that – that means that we can split into two groups and ride both rides at the same time – everyone is happy and the power stays on!  LOL

TTT ~ Forced Perspective

Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia

Did you know? Forced perspective is a technique used to trick your eye into thinking something is bigger, taller, closer, or farther away than it actually is.  Imagineers use this technique throughout Walt Disney World to make the most economical use of space and materials.  Many of the buildings you see are built, for example, to an 80/60/40 scale, meaning the lower level is built to 80 percent normal scale, the second level to 60 percent, and the upper level to 40 percent, giving the illusion of  greater height.*

Here is one of my favorite examples of forced perspective:

TTT ~ Snow White

Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia

Did you know? Although “One Man’s Dream” [in Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park] makes it look like Walt Disney provided the voice of the Queen, he actually did not.  Lucille La Verne was the actual provider of the voice.  Rumor has it that she produced the voice of the Hag so perfectly only after removing her false teeth.

Makes sense, I guess!  LOL  (We have Snow White on the brain since we’ve recently started watching the first season of “Once Upon a Time” on Netflix.)

I’m co-hosting Tiggerific Tuesday!

Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia

Last week was the first week of new Tiggerific Tuesday blog hoppin’ fun, as Jodi has added TRIVIA to the mix!  Yay!  I love trivia – especially DISNEY TRIVIA!  This week, we’re adding EVEN MORE FUN as 3 co-hosts are coming on board!  So, each week, you can plan on 4 tidbits of Disney Trivia – and you get to share your trivia as well!

You can find Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia here:

Did you know?  This year marks Epcot’s 30th anniversary!  It was originally referred to at EPCOT Center (EPCOT was an acronym standing for “Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow”).

A few years ago, we had a Cast Member ask us what it stood for and I rattled that off.  He said “No, it stands for Every Person Comes Out Tired,” which is also very true!

It took 1,700 tons (in other words, about 3.4 million pounds) of steel and 26 months to build Spaceship Earth.*

People who have never visited Walt Disney World often seem surprised to find out that there is an attraction housed INSIDE this giant ball!

Tiggerific Tuesday is back!

Magical Mouse Schoolhouse Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia

My friend Jodi over at Magical Mouse Schoolhouse has revamped her Tiggerific Tuesday Blog Hop. It’s still a place to link up your blog; but now it’s even better because it includes trivia!  Disney trivia, that is!  Each week, share a tidbit of Disney trivia on your blog – then go over to Magical Mouse Schoolhouse and link up.  It’s that simple – and even more fun!

Did you know? Disney-MGM Studios’ Superstar Television, which closed September 26, 1998, allowed selected guests to participate in a few scenes from such popular TV shows as “I Love Lucy,” “Cheers,” and “Gilligan’s Island.” (from The Walt Disney World Trivia Book by Lou Mongello)

I knew this from experience as, when I visited Walt Disney World in 1990, my best friend was selected to play a “bombshell” in an episode of Cheers! If memory serves me right, this attraction was housed in the building that now showcases The American Idol Experience.
