86 . . .

Earlier in the  countdown, I mentioned our first stay on Disney property and how we’re looking forward to returning to Port Orleans Riverside.  Since we were only able to stay for 3 nights last time, we really didn’t have enough time to take advantage of all the extra things that are available to see and do at a Disney resort.  Gracie was especially looking forward to trying something new (which we have promised to make time for on our next visit) . . .

#86 – Cane Pole Fishing
(information from PortOrleans.org – the Unofficial Visitor’s Guide to Riverside and French Quarter)

Port Orleans Riverside features an old-fashioned Fishin’ Hole that’s fun for the whole family, located on Ol’ Man Island just behind the Muddy Waters pool bar. The fishing hole is open from 7:00am until 1:30pm and is stocked with catfish, blue gill and bass. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. All fishing at Walt Disney World Resort property is “catch and release” only, but you’re welcome to take pictures to prevent those “big fish that got away” stories later.

This information is included on my itinerary for our trip – and we left an open slot for fishing (just for Gracie!)

We did this when we stayed at Port Orleans Riverside. It was a lot of fun. We didn't catch anything the day we did this, but it was so much fun to fish as a family. Fishing with cane poles was an experience we wanted to let our kids participate in. Kind of old fashioned fun from yester years gone by. It was well worth the memories. Enjot it. It will be lots of great memories for your family.

I would love to do this one day.  And it is so cool Gracie was the one that wanted to go fishing!

Gracie has been gearing up for it for so long now that I hope it's not a disappointment for her.
