It’s been an interesting week

It’s hard to believe it’s Friday already.  Last week, at this time, I was getting ready to go for my first mammogram (I never got a chance to report on how that went – but it really wasn’t as bad as I had expected – and everything was fine, so that’s a praise!)  Last Friday evening, I took my first Disney test for my travel agent position.  Looking back now, I realize that I took that test in a bit of a “blur” state.  I think the TGA was already starting to set it.

I was given strict orders for this week – take it easy!  no work!  That’s kinda difficult for someone who was glued to my calendar and always meeting some sort of deadline.  Needless to say, I’ve  been feeling a bit stir-crazy this week.  Last night somebody told me (and I quote) “If this is resting, may I say you are really a big fat failure at it!”  Yep, that’s me.

And, as much as I just want things to get back to “normal” around here, when Brian announced last night that he’d be home early and would take Gracie, Ian, and me out for supper and for  groceries, I cringed.  I mean, sure, the supper part sounds like fun; but the groceries?!  Am I the only one who hates going to the grocery store?  It’s not so much the experience of the store itself, it’s preparing for it.  We try to make a menu, so we only have to buy the things we need.  I don’t mind it so much when it’s a family-affair; but when it’s all my responsibility . . . ugh!

1310520973930992921335 That being said, I recently received The Works from Christi the Coupon Coach.  I’ve read through over half the book, and I’m slightly confused.  I’m going to attribute it to my recent memory loss – and hope that I can eventually figure the whole  thing out because it looks really cool (and fun!)

If you’ve got a handle on saving tons of money on groceries, please leave me a comment and tell me how you do it!  We recently started shopping at Aldi’s and have been saving lots of money there. Tonight we’ll go there, and to BJ’s.

Later this morning, I have an appointment to get my hair done.  This was the second “before Florida” appointment that I made for myself – and definitely the one I was most looking forward to!  I’m not sure exactly what I’ll have done – I was originally thinking of getting colored, but I’m not sure I want to have to maintain that (both with time and money!), so I’m leaning toward highlights and a trim.  We’ll see.

What are your weekend plans?

I hate coupons... they stress me out too much!!  So glad you are doing so well!!  I'm also glad you were give a prescription for a week of rest.  ; )

Honestly, the whole coupon thing confuses me too and I feel like such an idiot.  My friends who do it continually declare to me how easy it is....and have explained things to me over and over.  I just find it....intimidating....I guess is the best word.  We used to shop almost exclusively at Aldi...but now that we are in the south we have found Kroger to have a lot of really good deals and they are much closer to our house.  Good luck....oh, and I would like to encourage you to try a new color...even if you don't maintain it.  I think you could use a fun boost right now.

Heidi, I'm so glad you're feeling better! You remind me of my sister-in-law, whom we affectionately refer to as the Engergizer Bunny, because she simply cannot slow down ;) I know your Disney trip will be therapeutic!

I do not have a handle on saving on groceries, but I know a lot of people who do the coupon thing & do it really well.

I want that coupon/planning thingy you have!!! It's so adorable! Plus, I have issues with couponing (ssshhhh, don't tell any of my blog followers!) I use whatever ones I happen to have around when I remember. And I think I spend more than anyone else I know on groceries and stuff.

P.S. - I've been praying for you this week.

I don't get couponing. I do like to play a game of going to the store alone with 30-40 dollars and seeming how many meals I can make from it. It is alot more fun with 30 cash and alot more in the bank, a little depressing when it's not a game, ha! I try to only walk the outer rim of the store. And I understand the rest part, we seem to double or append and activity when there is 'nothing to do'. Angie

First, I FAIL at couponing. Second, I think th whole grocery shopping thing is exhausting. Must be my recent struggle with hypothyroidism and adrenal dysfunction. But, I have always felt it was a full day. Planning, listing, going, shopping, then coming home, unloading, then cooking. Ugh! Oh, the drama. I am thinking once a month cooking might be the way to go. Work hard one or two days then reheat and throw together e rest of e month. Only God knows.

I don't like shopping of any kind, but do get some pleasure when I actually save money on stuff. Your coupon thing looks really great. Right now I am basically using the system I told you about on SouthernSavers. It is very time consuming right now because I am just learning it, but I think once I get some sort of system it will be so much easier. The Works looks really cool. You'll have to keep us updated on if the Works actually . . .works.  :)

Be sure to keep getting rest and relax and don't overdue. Love you!
