Remembering–and anticipating–Lincoln!

1-sheet_Lincoln_v8I’m currently reading a book that is set in the time directly following the end of the Civil War.  As I’m reading it, I’m reminded of President Lincoln and the role he played in ending the war and abolishing the very ugly thing called “slavery”.  Oh my goodness, I cannot even imagine!

In any case, I’m anxious to see this new movie – which will be coming to select theaters on November 9th.

Steven Spielberg directs two-time Academy Award® winner Daniel Day-Lewis in “Lincoln,” a revealing drama that focuses on the 16th President’s tumultuous final months in office. In a nation divided by war and the strong winds of change, Lincoln pursues a course of action designed to end the war, unite the country and abolish slavery. With the moral courage and fierce determination to succeed, his choices during this critical moment will change the fate of generations to come.

What about you?  Are you planning to go see “Lincoln” this fall?

A couple of years ago, I read the book that the movie is based on, "Team of Rivals," by Doris Kearns Goodwin, who was also a consultant on the most recent version of the Hall of Presidents, by the way. I have read several Lincoln books, and "Team of Rivals" is one of the best recent ones. So based on that, I am looking forward to the movie. Not sure if I will make it to the theater to see it, but I will at least definitely see it on Blu-Ray if not in the theater.

That's interesting, Steve! Thanks so much for sharing!

I think maybe this will be a good date-night for my 18 year old daughter and me. :)
