Beginning with God

I received this  great little book from Kregel Publications to review.  If you are looking for a devotional for your child (my recommended age would be 1st - 4th grade), I would highly recommend this one.  It's a nice hardback book, so it will withstand LOTS of use!
This devotional book is divided up by seasons, starting with Fall (September, October, and November) and running throughout the year (you don't have to wait until fall to start though, just start on the appropriate month/week).  There is a devotional for each week of the year (52 total).
Each week's devotional is divided into 6 parts~ they can all be done at once, or broken down so that  there's something to do (almost) each day of the week.  There is a story to read (and these are always simple stories that kids can easily relate to), a section of questions called "Check Your Head for What You've Read", "A Look Inside God's Special Book" encourages kids to dig into the Bible with a scripture reference and some background information, "Let's Rehearse a Bible Verse" suggests a memory verse to go with each devotional, "When You Pray, Day by Day" offers prayer suggestions and encouragement, and "Something Fun for Everyone" contains fun activities to help expand the lesson (these might be craft ideas, outreach ideas, quizzes, writing assignments~ always fun and great ways to encourage whole-family participation).
The  back of the book contains a Topic & Story Index, which is another way to use this book~ instead of following the weekly plan, a child could look up a topic that is of interest to them and go from there.
This  book would make a great gift for any child in your life!  It can be purchased directly through the publisher, or at Christianbook.com and Amazon.

Here is another excerpt, this one is more of the activities and follow-up to the story.
