Wow, the Christmas tree (and various other decorations) are put away, and the last Christmas party has been held (yesterday). It's already 3 days into January, and tomorrow is a Monday. I guess that means we need to start thinking about s-c-h-o-o-l again. My intentions were to not take much of a break over the holidays - but we were having so much fun that nobody wanted to think about school.
I think I need to spend a bit of time reevaluating our curriculum choices and our schedule. I need to incorporate my word for the year - SIMPLIFY - into my schedule. So, I think that, starting tomorrow, I'm going to set my alarm to get up earlier (I don't know why I can't tear myself out of bed in the winter - maybe because it's so cold and it's toasty warm under the covers) - maybe 6am - to read my Bible and pray. Then, I should be able to get several solid hours of work (for TOS) in before the kids are even out of bed. From there, we can concentrate on a bit of housework, followed by our schoolwork.
Are you planning anything different for your schedule for this new year?

Yes, I am planning on planning more, adding in at least one monthly field trip, and allowing the kids to have a larger input into what we do-not enough to let em go haywire or anything-but some more choices. I am also trying to add in consequences for not finishing assignments and doing what is asked, upon being asked-not some several hours later...all goals that I hope we meet. :0)
I was going to start tomorrow morn with school-but life got in the way today and I think I need one more day to focus and organize....
I am definitely trying to get a better schedule and work towards getting a reasonable amount of schoolwork done each day. I'll have two middle schoolers next year! Yikes! When the kids were younger, I didn't hesitate to drop school work on a whim to attend a great-sounding field trip.
As for getting up at 6 a.m.,I can only dream about what I could get done. Unfortunately, that's what I'll likely be doing at that hour...dreaming.
