I got my Homeschooling with Heart totebag at the Cincinnati convention a few weeks ago. It came filled with goodies. (If you got one, you know what I mean!) I was cleaning my bag out the other day to pack some things in it to take to church. I found an mp3 cd of Cyndi Kinney (creator of Knowledge Box Central) talking about Homeschool Burnout.
I must confess something here – I almost threw the cd away. I thought “do I really want to take the time to listen to this?” But, something made me hold onto it; and I decided to take it along in the car to listen to on the way to Gracie’s violin lesson last night. Wow – I’m glad I did!
I titled this post simply “burnout” because I believe that I am suffering from burnout – not specifically homeschool burnout, but maybe life burnout. A lot of the symptoms that Cyndi mentions, I have. A lot of the stresses that contribute to burnout are things that I deal with on a daily basis.
I realize that a lot of these things are things that have been out of my control this past year – issues at church, family issues, the sickness and death of my best friend, work busy-ness. Sometimes I do get very frustrated and just want to throw in the towel. Not on life, mind you – but sometimes we moms just really need a break, don’t we?
It made me feel better to know that I’m not alone in these feelings. I had never heard Cyndi’s voice before and her southern charm was enjoyable to listen to. Her down-to-earth chat, and her openness about her own self and feelings, made me feel like I had a friend who understands what I’m going through.
In order to relieve my burnout, I’m heading to Florida! :) I am taking my computer, and I’ll be working at the TOS booth at the FPEA convention and hanging out with my bosses and other work friends; but, for the most part, I’m leaving work and school behind for 10 full days! I can’t wait. Maybe, when I get back home, I’ll feel more like myself again!
If you’re suffering from a bit of burnout too, and could use a pick-me-up, I just looked and you can purchase this audio here.

Feeling the burnout myself lately. Looking foward to summer break!
Enjoy yourself in Florida and sink your toes in the sand for me at least once. ;-)
Heidi, thanks for the review! I'm so glad that the audio spoke to your heart. I've been going through quite a big of burnout myself lately, and it was great to hear that through all of that, I still was able to encourage someone. Have an awesome time in Florida!
Blessings,
Cyndi Kinney
