New Friend Friday – favorite childhood memory

Diana from The Girl Creative (responsible for my blog makeover!) hosts New Friend Friday each week.  Every week, I think “I should participate this week” then I get busy and never make the  time.  So, here is my first attempt at making new friends through New Friend Friday!  If you’re new to my blog, I hope you’ll take the time to look around, that you’ll find something you like, and decide to stick around (follow me).

NOTE: I’m hosting an fun giveaway for a large set of Magneatos from Guidecraft.  Please be sure to check out this post and sign up for your chance to win!

The Girl Creative

I was an only child for the first (almost) 15 years of my life. I had amazing parents who were always welcoming of my friends and allowed me to have friends over quite frequently.  But, I’d say that most of my favorite childhood memories probably involve times when we were with family – either visiting at my grandparents’ house on Sundays and spending time will all of my many cousins, or visiting with another aunt & uncle on Friday evenings and hanging out with my older cousins (who were like a sister and brother to me).

Other fond memories that I have of my childhood are family vacations.  We went to places like the New England states (I actually remember thinking all that scenery was boring, but I’d love to see it again – now – as an adult), Nashville, Williamsburg, etc.  We never went to Disney World until I was a senior in high school; but, obviously, that place made a huge impression on me.  Can you tell?

When I was 5, my dad was sent on an extended business trip to Italy; so my mom and I got to go along.  Actually, I celebrated my 5th birthday there and lost my first tooth that day as well.  I don’t recall it, but my mom said I screamed like a freak in the middle of the restaurant and they were quite embarrassed because, of course, nobody had any idea what I was saying!  I’m not really the “making a scene” type, so I find her story hard to believe.

I have lots of great memories – these are just some of the ones that popped into my mind when I read the topic for today.  I’ll be anxious to read about your childhood memories!  Diana’s memory was hilarious!  {Diana ~ I never sent a taxi to anyone’s house.  Where I lived, we never even saw taxis!  But, I have been known to make a prank call now and then. My friend and I would do them under the guise of conducting a survey. LOL I hope nobody’s reading this that was a target of one of our many calls! If my kids did that, I’d be so mad.  What were we thinking?!}
