Truly Pure and Natural

Let me ask you something --- what do you think your ancestors used to wash their hair?  I’m talking about your great-grandparents – several generations back – maybe around the turn of the century or even before.  Or think Laura Ingalls Wilder.

Do you think they used things like Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Glycol Distearate, Dimethicone, Hexylene Glycol, Carbomer, and Niacinamide?  (Those are just a few of the ingredients listed on the back of one of my favorite shampoo brands – which, other than the aqua/water and a few fruit extracts, contains nothing that I am even remotely familiar with.)  Now, I haven’t done any research, but I’m almost 100% certain that my great-grandmother used nothing of the sort.

I’m thinking she may have used things like mountain spring water, coconuts, hazel nuts, pine needles, chamomile, nutmeg, lemons, thyme, passion flower, apples, cinnamon, eucalyptus, sea salt, geranium, raspberries, and almonds.  Maybe not all of these things, but at least ones that were readily available on her pantry cupboards, or within a one-mile radius of her home.

yhst-36911778313119_2107_5290953 The things I listed above, in bold, are the exact ingredients on a bottle of Tate’s the Natural Miracle Shampoo, available from Truly Pure and Natural.  I find it extremely exciting to know exactly what I’m putting on my hair in the morning.  And, even more fun – the smell of this stuff is beyond amazing.  Every morning, as I’m sudsing up my hair, I’m wondering if I could take a small taste of it – because it smells like some exotic drink, served in a coconut shell, with a little umbrella sticking out.  Tell me – does your shampoo do that?

These days, I’m hearing more and more about people who are trying to “get back to basics” and live a lifestyle that is more natural. Lots of people with various skin issues (such as dry skin, sensitive skin,  etc.) are turning to natural remedies.  Research is finding links from some of our cleaners and pesticides to cancer and other diseases.  That’s pretty scary stuff!  And although I confess that I’m not all aboard the natural bandwagon, I do find it pretty exciting to know what I’m putting in contact with my body.

Truly Pure and Natural was started by a Christian, homeschooling, adoptive family of six.  Nick and Denise created Truly Pure and Natural because, as a family, they have allergies, sensitive skin, eczema, rosacea, and chemical sensitivities.

Denise says:
"We also have both African American and Caucasian skin and hair. Nick and I are Caucasian, and we were thrilled to find Tate's Natural Miracle products that worked as well for our African American children as they do for us!

We're continually looking for new products to add, and our criteria is that they work well and be free of harmful chemicals. We'd found many so-called "natural" products that may have had some herbs or essential oils in them, but also contained harsh chemicals. We learned that the word "natural" on product labels really doesn't mean much at all!”

yhst-36911778313119_2109_1565204 In addition to the shampoo, I also received a bottle of the conditioner and hair gel.  The shampoo is deep-cleaning and, therefore, leaves my color-treated hair feeling a bit like straw; but once the conditioner is applied, my hair feels better and healthier than ever!  And the gel --- love it!  It does not leave a sticky residue on my hands, yet it works great in my hair!  You’ll be amazed to read about all the many things you can use the conditioner for.  I haven’t tried them all (because I just got a small bottle and I’m enjoying it too much on my hair); but I will say that I used it on my pug dog’s facial wrinkle!

yhst-36911778313119_2107_16987487 Another really neat product that Truly Pure and Natural carries is the Lifefactory Glass Beverage Bottles.  I received the 22 oz. bottle with the pearl white silicone sleeve.  I’ve been using it for several weeks now and I love it!  I can drink iced tea in it one day and water the next – the tea doesn’t stain the bottle and the taste doesn’t linger like it would in a regular plastic water bottle.  Someone asked me if the silicone sleeve would protect the glass from breaking.  I want to say “yes” but I haven’t actually tried this (much like I haven’t tasted the shampoo – purely selfish reasons!)  I’m pretty sure it would protect it if the fall was on a laminate surface – my wood floors, though, maybe not.

I love the wide opening on this bottle too!  Many of the other beverage containers I’ve purchased in the past have small openings that are impossible to add ice  too.  I’ve even purchased one of the ice trays that makes the long, round ice  cubes, but they don’t last long in the water.  With the Lifefactory bottle, I can add tons of ice cubes to my water – no problem!

And if you’re looking for a water/beverage bottle that is “truly pure and natural” – Lifefactory bottles are BPA, phthalate, PVC, and polycarbonate free; the silicone sleeve is free of plastics and 100% non-toxic; and all materials are FDA approved

I would highly recommend checking out the Truly Pure and Natural website. In addition to the products I mentioned above, they also carry Honeybee Gardens make-up, powdered deodorant, and flavored lip balms, Tassot Apiaries raw honey and beeswax soaps, and One Village organic, fair trade coffees.

*I received the products mentioned for free from Truly Pure and Natural, but I was not compensated in any other way for this review. The thoughts contained herein are entirely my own.

Thanks so much, Heidi! I wanted to add that my bottle hit a wood floor and survived. I recently read another review in which the writer said that she had dropped, thrown, and accidentally kicked her bottle and it was fine. While I don't recommend throwing the bottles, it was good to learn just how sturdy they are. Lifefactory also makes baby bottles and I did read about one breaking when a baby threw it on a tile floor. I've yet to hear about anyone breaking an adult bottle...but I still try to keep my toddlers from running away with mine! :)

Thanks again for the great review. I'm so glad you like our products!

One of the best things about Truly Pure and Natural products is you literally don't have to give a thought to label reading. Their name says it all: they are TRULY pure and natural. I have been reading labels for about forty years so it's nice to find products that don't require scrutiny.I hope they keep finding new products to add to their inventory so I don't have to read labels again!
