Yes, I’m obsessing. It’s what I do best. Especially when it comes to planning a trip to Disney. So, rather than obsess alone, I thought I’d create a brand new Destination Disney button and let you play along! (If you want the image to use on your own blog, e-mail me and I’ll send it to you.)
So, here’s the thing --- We’re going to be spending some time at Walt Disney World in May, since we’ll be in the area for the FPEA convention (again!) We have Disney points, thanks to our Disney Visa, so we’d like to do at least one, if not two, character meals.
So far, we have done these:
- Crystal Palace with Pooh & Friends (twice, lunch both times)
- Akershus in Norway with the Princesses (for breakfast)
- 1900 Park Faire at the Grand Floridian with Cinderella & Friends (for supper)
We’ve loved all of these, and would definitely consider doing the Akershus one again (that was one amazingly yummy breakfast), but we’d really like to try some new ones. So, what do YOU suggest? What character meal(s) is your favorite?
Here are some that seem to be the most popular on the DISboards. I’d love your personal thoughts (if you have experience with any of these).
- Chef Mickey’s @ the Contemporary Resort
- Cape May @ the Beach Club Resort
- Garden Grill @ EPCOT
Feel free to post about this topic on your blog, then come back here and link up with your post. If you’re not a blogger, please simply leave a comment with your answer/thoughts. Becky and I would love to see some Destination Disney participation. :) Thanks!

Disney AND FPEA??!! I wanna go too!!! Last year I almost went to FPEA but already knew what I was doing for the year so didn't go. :o( Ok, to answer your questions, we love Chef Mickey for the characters. The food is really not the best of all the buffets, but we love the characters there. Either Chip or Dale sat with us for at least 10 min one time "talking" with our daughter. Ohana at the Polynesian is one of our favorite restaurants at Disney but there are no characters (wait, there are, but only at breakfast). For dinner they do a Polynesian show. We also love Boma at Animal Kingdom!! They have the best buffet but no characters. We like the Crystal Palace too and one of our favorites is no longer character dining (Liberty Tree Tavern). That is funny about Norway b/c we went to dinner there once and didn't like the food (a little too Norwegian for our tastes). Not sure if all that helped you out...now I am wanting to go though...lol!
We loved Chef Mickey's, and I linked up for ya too! With pics! :)
Hi Heidi
We enjoyed a character meal at Chrystal Palace Magic Kingdom. We also enjoyed one at Restaurantasaurus at Animal Kingdom but I think that has now been replaced by Tuska House. Cape May is gorgoeus, we stayed at The Beach Club Hotel and it was beautiful. The characters are only there at breakfast and we had dinner. We are visiting Disney again this April and have just booked 1900 Park Fare for dinner. We are starting to get excited and I have even started packing!

I finally got a post together and linked up. When you go in May you have to see the concert at the Flower and Garden festival...we are going the weekend that Davy Jones will be performing, it is so much fun. :)
I stopped by to see if there was a list of topics for the future Destination Disney's and I saw your super awesome nametag countdown! Of course I hopped over and made one for myself lol. Too cool. :)
