We all knew it was coming --- Mickey’s Toontown Fair has finally closed (the official last day was February 11th, 2011). You can read more about the closing (complete with pictures) on the Orlando Attractions Blog.
I’m one of those people who tends to get attached to things (and people). So, yes, I’m feeling a little bit sad about the end of Mickey’s Toontown Fair at the Magic Kingdom.
I’d like to devote this week’s Destination Disney to sharing your thoughts, memories, and pictures of your experiences in Mickey’s Toontown Fair over the years. Please post on your blog and come back here and link up so we can all reminisce together.
What’s coming next for the Magic Kingdom? The expansion of Fantasyland. As sad as the closing of Toontown is, this Fantasyland expansion is pretty exciting. There’s lots of information about this expansion to be found online. If you’re interested, just do a Google search, or visit Lance Around Orlando.

What we have enjoyed most about Toontown over the years has been meeting Mickey Mouse. Here was our family catching up with Mickey & Minnie in January ‘09.
I always enjoy seeing Mickey’s gardens. I’m still trying to figure out how I can grow veggies like this in our garden at home. I did see on the Living with the Land ride that you can put your pumpkins in plastic Mickey head forms – hmmm . . . I think, though, that I might actually like tomatoes if Brian grew them to look like Mickey heads. :)
One of the highlights for Gracie in 2009 was meeting with Tinkerbell and the other fairies for the first time. Silvermist is her personal favorite (I wonder why?) Now, Gracie is even asking about the possibility of blue streaks in her own hair!
Though I don’t have any pictures to prove it, Ian LOVED Goofy’s Barnstormer. He wasn’t even quite 3 when he first rode it, and he was eager to go right back in the line for round 2!
When we took Ashley to Disney back in 1999, we came out from meeting Mickey Mouse, only to encounter Snow White and ALL 7 of the Dwarves! We got Ashley’s picture taken – individually – with each one of them. That made for a neat 2-page spread of awesome pictures in my scrapbook! I wish I had the pictures on my computer to share with you all. So cute!

I did not know this about Toontown!! Boo-hoo! We all loved Goofy's Barnstormer!
Yay! I have LOTS of pics from Toontown! Can't wait to write my post, thanks Heidi! My kids loved the Barnstormer too, they rode it several times, LOL Loved your pics, especially the one with Gracie and Silvermist. I had no idea they closed Toontown. :( We had a good time there, especially Marissa.
I did not know about Toontown closing. I'm sad that we didn't get to see it before it went away. I just read about the expansion of fantasyland on that link you posted and I do have to say that that sounds amazing though. I'm glad to see that they are keeping Goofy's Barnstormer but just updating it.
On a different note- I got a book in the mail to review this past week. It's called The Key to the Kingdom by Dixon. It's a fictional novel. I thought of you when it arrived. :-)
I will get my toontown photos together for a post.
Bummer! I didn't know it was closing and we didn't even make it there during our October trip. The new Fantasyland addition sounds fun, though.
