Wednesday Hodgepodge Mardi Gras Style- Vol 17

1. The season of Lent begins on March 9th this year...do you participate and if so, in what way?

Nope. I’m not sure why.

2. Traditionally pancakes are eaten on the day known as Shrove Tuesday which is the last day before Lent (March 8th this year). So....butter and syrup? Blueberry? Chocolate chip? ewww, no thanks!! What's your pleasure when it comes to eating pancakes?

Here in PA, that is Donut Day (or Fashnaucht Day).  Sorry, but I’d much rather eat a donut than a pancake.  LOL  Unfortunately, though, I didn’t have a donut yesterday.

Pancakes are not my favorite.  They’re like sponges.  You have to keep loading them up with syrup or they’re too dry.  Then, with all that syrup, they’re way too sweet.  I’d prefer a waffle.

3. Spring is coming. (It is coming, right?) What's your favorite springtime flower and do you suffer from seasonal allergies? Two questions I know, but they're lightweights.

My favorites are probably tulips!  I love all the various colors. We had tulips here when we moved and Brian kept trying to dig them up and get rid of them!  Grrr!!!  Some of  them are still here, though.  My personal favorites are the ones I call “peppermint tulips” – the look like the ones pictured here, only they are red and white.

Oh, and yes, I suffer from seasonal allergies.  I never did until I got married and moved here.  I think it’s all the farm country air.  LOL

4. "Our opinion of people depends less upon what we see in them than upon what they make us see in ourselves." Author unknown. Agree or Disagree? Why?

I’ve never heard this quote, but I think I’ll have to agree with it.  Here’s why --- I’ve always said that the things that tend to bug us most about others are probably things that we do ourselves and maybe just don’t realize it.  I really think that’s true.  It’s like looking in a mirror.  LOL

5. Since it's "March" and also the season of Mardi Gras....have you ever been in a parade? What's the best parade you've seen?

Hmmm . . . I can’t recall if I’ve ever been in one, but I used to serve on the committee that planned and then carried out our  town’s annual parade.  It was quite fun.  I still help by making the promotional fliers each year.

One year, we had an Americana theme.  Ashley and my friend Sue’s daughter Jenna wanted to participate.  Sue’s father in law painted up his trailer that he hauled behind his Jeep.  Our neighbor girl, who was homeschooled, make them the cutest dresses – Little House on the Prairie style – complete with hats.  My mom made them matching dresses for their American Girl dolls.  They won first place trophies and were so excited!

But, the best parades EVER are at Disney World!  They know how to do a parade right! I didn’t move any parade pictures over to this computer or I’d share some.

6. You would jump up and down and shout for joy right now if someone told you___________?

That they had a used Toyota Sienna or Honda Odyssey just sitting around and they’d like to give it to us!  Wow – that would save a whole lotta stress around here!

7. How clean is your car on the outside? Inside? Is there junk in your trunk?

Right now, my car is pretty clean.  It got washed before it went to the shop, and came straight home and got parked in the garage where it’s been sitting for the past month.  Do I sound a little bitter?  I am!

8. Insert your own random thought here.

Destination Disney fans will want to pop over tomorrow to see my latest Disney review – it will include a giveaway!

We don't have tulips in this yard. I'd love to put some bulbs in but we have an overabundance of wildlife so I'm pretty sure it would be futile. Animals love tulips.

Oh, I am so with you about the Disney parades. Although I don't really like parades, I will say that Disney's night parades ROCK!!!

I enjoyed all of your answers! This was my first time visiting your blog. Have a great day!!

Disney does it right!
I would love to win a trip to Disney World.
Really to Epcot since I've never been there.

I would love to see pics of what they looked like all dressed up with their dolls for the parade!
