Calling all artists and graphic designers (and those who want to be)!

A CONTEST!

The Homeschool Crew is in need of a mascot and Brenda and I are hosting a contest
to have her created. 

Bertha de la Cruise – a 41 year old homeschool mom – is going to be joining the Crew as our new mascot (since our former mascot decided to leave us to explore the world). Bertha is (how can we put this nicely?) stuck in a rut. She needs a new look.

And that’s where YOU come in!

Brenda and I would like to help Bertha out by giving her a new image. And, since she’s going to be serving as the Crew Mascot, we’re thinking it should be (maybe) somewhat nautical in nature. So, put on your thinking caps and help us out! Here are a few of Bertha’s fine character traits that you may want to keep in mind. She’s:

So, we need you to DESIGN BERTHA! How? By either drawing her or by putting yourself (or a friend) into character and taking a picture of her. We’re going to limit each entrant to TWO (2) submissions each (in other words, each person can submit ONE drawing and ONE photograph ONLY). Artwork submissions should be unsigned, and must be the original work of the submitter. All submissions must be received by August 15^th (midnight, EST). Brenda and I will do the judging and the final selection and announce the winner on August 20^th.

Submissions should be sent via e-mail. Please submit as .jpg files. (Any questions can also be directed to this address.)

The winner will receive a $50 gift certificate to the store or restaurant of his or her choice (think Amazon.com, Target, Michael’s, Starbuck’s, Olive Garden, etc.)

NOTE: The Bertha image that is chosen as the winner of this contest will become the property of Heidi & Brenda, who will retain all rights. All other images submitted will remain the property of their original submitter.

This contest is open to anyone. Any entrants under the age of 18 must have parental permission to enter (parent should submit entry.) No purchase necessary to win.
