I was recently introduced to the music of a young Christian artist named Robert Pierre when I was offered the opportunity to review his new cd. My family and I love music (especially Christian music); so we’re always interested in the newest contributions to our favorite genre. I must confess, though, that I’m often disappointed by some of the newer artists. If I can’t understand what someone is saying, how then am I to be praising God through their music?
Robert Pierre is like a breath of fresh air! We received his cd – I’m All In – the other day. We had some errands to run, so we took the cd along with us in the van. The first song, and title track, came on. Right away, I was thinking “wow – I can totally understand every word that this guy is saying!” And, if that wasn’t enough, it was a song with meaning and a message. I think it crossed my mind to wonder if all the songs would be like this and if they’d all sound the same (do you know what I mean? some artists you can tell right away because all their songs sound exactly the same).
The second song – Who R U – came on. I looked over at Ashley and said “this guy is really good. What do you think?” She liked him too. I think she was surprised. Another great song with a message – no sitting on the fence, people – decide where you want to be and what you want to stand for – “You’re either hot or you’re cold, either yes or you’re no, will you stay or will you run, who will you become?”
By the time the third song – Silent One – came on, I was amazed. While each song had a distinctly different sound, each one had a great message. And Robert sounds great delivering those messages! He’s got a clear, strong voice that is pleasant to listen to. His songs are catchy and easy to pick up on. With the exception of one song on this album, Robert wrote them all (some with collaborators, and others alone). It’s hard to believe he’s only 18!

My current favorite song was given to me by a friend -- This is the Stuff by Francesca Battistelli.
I love the reminder that all this stupid stuff is being used by God...
And it makes me think about Cristi besides, and how she certainly didn't have to buy me a song on iTunes... I don't deserve such amazing friends.
I shared about the giveaway on Facebook.
I would give this CD to my 11 year old son. he would be thrilled to receive it. He loves music and his guitar!
