Everything can change in an instant ... and take a lifetime to unravel.THE GRACE CARD is the first movie from Memphis-based Graceworks Pictures in conjunction with Calvary Pictures. Inspired by and modeled after Sherwood Pictures, the moviemaking ministry that created Fireproof, this faith-based film brings together Church and Hollywood—Memphis' Calvary Church working alongside veteran screenwriter Howard A. Klausner (Space Cowboys) and award-winning actor Louis Gossett, Jr. (Grandpa George).
When Mac McDonald loses his son in an accident, the ensuing 17 years of bitterness and pain erodes his love for his family and leaves him angry with God ... and just about everyone else.
Mac's rage stonewalls his career in the police department and makes for a combustible situation when he's partnered with Sam Wright, a rising star on the force who happens to be a part-time pastor and a loving family man.
Mac's home life is as frightening as anything he encounters on the streets of Memphis. Money is tight and emotions run high as he constantly argues with his wife and his surviving son Blake, who is hanging with the wrong crowd and in danger of flunking out of school.
Sam Wright also never expected to be a police officer. He has a calling—to be a minister like his Grandpa George. But leading a small, start-up church doesn't always put enough food on the table for a young family, so Sam doubles as a police officer. With his new promotion to Sergeant, Sam starts questioning if his real calling might actually be police work rather than the pastorate.
Can Mac and Sam somehow join forces to help one another when it's impossible for either of them to look past their differences—especially the most obvious one?
Every day, we have the opportunity to rebuild relationships and heal deep wounds by extending and receiving God's grace. Offer THE GRACE CARD ... and never underestimate the power of God's love.
Graceworks is the vision of Dr. David Evans, an optometrist in Memphis, who directed and serves as the executive producer of THE GRACE CARD. Calvary Pictures is a ministry of Calvary, a Church of the Nazarene led by Pastor Lynn Holmes in Cordova, Tenn.
We viewed The Grace Card last night as a family. I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect with the PG-13 rating. Apparently that rating was chosen due to some violence and blood; however, the movie was perfectly fine for viewing by my 11 year old. My 5 year old was in and out of the room; but I feel he would have been fine with it as well.
I was very impressed with how well the various characters were portrayed by the actors. Mac was a very bitter man after the loss of his son many years prior – that bitterness was effecting his wife and younger son as well. A very prejudice man due to the circumstances surrounding his son’s death, he’s partnered with a black man at work. It was interesting to watch these two men interacting throughout the film, and to watch as their relationship grows and changes – ending with a huge sacrifice and healing.
I would highly recommend this film. I believe that the underlying message here is one that everyone should see.
There are some ministry resources, including some free downloadable Bible studies to coincide with the film, available here. These would tie in nicely if using the film with a Sunday School class or youth group.

I agree with you about it being hard to find family-friendly movies! Especially ones that the parents really want to watch too! LOL! With our oldest two at home being 13 and 11, this is why I appreciate this review and giveaway! Thanks and blessings!
I like the idea of the card itself. Praying for others. Forgiveness giving and receiving - and bringing it to the friend level - I will be your friend. I like that.
I like the idea that this is a Christian movie. Like you said, there are so many movies out there that aren't good for my family. I think my husband and I would really enjoy this movie!

This looks great. This movie appeals to me as it's something enlightening that we can watch without being worried about bad language or unsuitable scenes. It would be lovely to have something that my husband and I can sit down and watch together.
The movie really looks like it is inspiring, heart-changing. I would love to win this, not only for our homeschooling family. But our teenage son could share this with his teen church group. Thank you for letting us know about a movie of this caliber!
I look forward to seeing this movie, whether I rent it or win it. I love watching movies, but it is so hard to find really good movies that the whole family can watch. This movie seems to have action and drama at a quality level that would still be appropriate for everyone. I'd love to win it for that reason plus the fact that my favorite price is free!
I have heard of this movie and hope to see it someday!
This is a movie I REALLY want to see! :) I've heard so many wonderful, touching things about it.
I think this movie would be great to own. It is grad finding family friendly movies that are faith based. I would live to win this movie from your blog.
GIRL! Cordova is just minutes away from my high school stomping ground! I didn't know The Grace Card was being done by a Memphis based Company!
Okay, I'd love to win it because we are HUGE fans of believable Christian movies. We own all of Sherwood's stuff, and would love to check this out too!

I like that it is a clean, wholesome, uplifting, family movie. We need more of those kinds of movies. :)
I would love to win this movie because I'm always looking for good, clean Christian movies the whole family can watch.

I wasn’t able to find this movie in the theaters near my home. I like that this trailer shows that the quality of Christian film-making has grown in leaps and bounds since the 1990s. Thanks for the chance to win a DVD copy! =)
