89 . . .

I’m going to go out on a limb here and confess something to you, as my readers and friends  - - - I’m a planning freak.  I know I’ve said that before, but it’s really true.  Ask my family, they’ll tell you.  Because, we still have 89 days to go and I’ve already got some things packed.  Yes, I do! LOL

#89 – I’m looking forward to wearing the matching shirts that we’ve made!  I know, I know – matching shirts are kinda corny – and we don’t do it on a normal day.  But, at Walt Disney World, matching shirts (much like belt packs) are socially acceptable.  In fact, they are even complimented!

Here are the shirts that we’ve made and will be wearing on our next trip:

 crafts 002
Our first attempt at the Mickey Head tie-dye shirts.
I wasn’t too thrilled, so we decided to try a 2nd time (but we’ll wear these too).
crafts 001
This was my first attempt at sewing in a very long time.
Can you guess where we might be wearing these shirts?
Yep, it’s to Animal Kingdom!
(This one is, obviously, Ian’s – the rest have our own initials on them.)
crafts 008
This was our 2nd attempt at the tie-dye shirts.
I like them a lot better, though I wish they had even more color.
We made the Mickey heads smaller on these, and I think I like that look more.
crafts 030
This was based on an idea that just popped into my head one day.
I looked everywhere for “flags of the world” material.
Seems it was discontinued, but I ordered some from an e-bay seller.
These we’ll wear to Epcot – won’t they be perfect for World Showcase?
Brian’s shirt for this day is actually a  black polo with the Flag Mickey on the pocket.

crafts 031
This is a combination of the swirly head Mickey shirts that we made in ‘09 and tie-dye.  We put our black dye in a spray bottle, used Elmer’s glue to freehand the swirly Mickey and, once dry, we sprayed on the  black paint.
These tees are fun (the picture really doesn’t do them justice).

I just found your blog and I am so excited! We are taking our first Disney World trip in 40 days. I have a 9 year old with severe and profound special needs and I have a 6 year old that is "typical". I dream of homeschooling (after 9 years of teaching in public schools) but I haven't taken the leap yet. It will happen sooner or latter I am about certain. Your blog-disney and homeschool all wrapped up in one. What more could I ask for!?! I am excited to spend some time looking through your blog. Do you have links to how to make these shirts? I like the glue one and think I could handle it with my lack of crafting skills.

How neat!! I've always thought it would be fun to go to DL in matching tees, but I don't think I could get my family to agree. :D Have you seen this amazing Etsy shop One Great Thing? They have lots of awesome tie dye shirts if your still looking for options. ;) http://www.etsy.com/shop/onegreatthing

Thanks! I was really tickled with how it turned out too. Especially considering it was my own idea - not something I saw somewhere. With those, you just never know. LOL
