Christmas Lodge ~ review & giveaway

I am a sucker for a good Christmas movie.  I get excited at this time of year, because the stores always have a bunch of new Christmas movies out.  We like to add at least one new one (sometimes two or three) to our collection each year.  But, it’s so hard to know which movies are good ones.  When you’re just looking at the display at your local Wal-mart and Target, how do you know which movies are really Christmas treasures and which ones are flops?

Honestly, we haven’t really figured out the answer to that question.  We’ve taken our chances; and, for the most part, we’ve  gotten lucky.  But, there has been the occasional “why did we buy this?” movie.  I was recently given the opportunity to review a wonderful Christmas movie . . .

Thomas Kinkade presents Christmas Lodge: a place where a heart-warming past and loving future meet for one remarkable group of people. During a weekend trip to the mountains, Mary (Erin Karpluk) finds herself at the now- dilapidated lodge where she spent the holidays with her family growing up. She becomes determined to restore the building to its former glory. Inspired by her grandfather and guided by her grandmother in heaven, Mary throws herself into the project, and during the process finds herself drawn to Jack (Michael Shanks), a handsome man who loves the lodge as much as she does. Historically unlucky in love, this chance encounter allows Mary to renew her faith in life and discover her one true love. For an uplifting story about the importance of faith, family and the true holiday spirit, go to the Christmas Lodge.

We watched this movie together as a family and we all really enjoyed it.  It’s a heartwarming story with a great cast of characters.  We had previously seen and enjoyed Thomas Kinkade’s Christmas Cottage, which was also a great Christmas movie.

If you are like us, and are looking for a good Christmas movie to add to your collection, I’d recommend Christmas Lodge.  You can view the trailer here.

Christmas Vacation is a total crack-up! J

When they bring home that tree and cut the string off of it and it takes up the whole room . . . That reminds me so much of our first tree! LOL

I absolutely over watch A Christmas Story.  I admit, I stop and watch it everytime it is on.  It may be the comfort in knowing what is coming next.  Or that feeling of being a child again wanting so much the one item from Santa.

In addition to this movie, I also watch Elf over and over.  That movie's goofy nature is just too cute.  It is innocent, yet written well enough that a few adult jokes are added in for fun.

Thanks for the giveaway!  Cant wait to see what others have said below!  (Would not let myself read them first.  I didn't want to copy anyone's paper.)

I watch all of the Christmas cartoons every year.  But my favorite has to be The Grinch with Jim Carey. He did a wonderful job as the Grinch.

Miracle on 34th Street because there was so much that made sense to me as a child when I watched it. When I watch it today, it brings back wonderful memories for me.

I like It's a Wonderful Life.  Gotta love a show that reminds people how important they are in this world and that the conditions around you don't matter as much as the people that are in your life.

Do I get banned from your family friendly blog if I admit to really liking National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation? I don't watch it with the kids.

To tell you the truth, I don't watch too many Christmas movies. The kids love the first 2 Veggie Tales Christmas ones and there is another kids Christmas movie we all love (I forget the name of it; I think I bought it at Lifeway for $5). My hubby loves It's A Wonderful Life. I am always scared (don't know if "scared" is the right word...) that I will sit down to watch a movie and wish that i hadn't and never be able to get those 2 hours back :) This movie, however sounds really good!

It's a Wonderful Life...has a message of courage and sacrifice for the greater good and that each life is important no matter how insignificant we feel we are.

this is a very hard question for me!  I love Christmas Vacation, The Santa Clause, The Christmas Story, Charlie Brown's Christmas, Love Actually (isn't really Christmas, but I watch it at Christmas!), and the Muppets Christmas Carol!  Too many to list! :)

Oh gosh it's November 9th and I just saw this. Hoping I'm not too late. Not sure what my favorite is exactly but anything family related or anything that just goes straight to the heart with the true meaning of Christmas, love and giving of oneself is in my top 10.
