Welcome to those of you joining me from Focused on the Magic and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the 3rd stop on our Magical Blogorail. This month, we are sharing our “best picture taking tips for Disney” with you . . .
I’ve been thinking about this topic and how I wanted to approach it on my blog. You see, I’m just an amateur, for-fun, photographer. While I’d love to get more into photography one of these days and purchase a good SLR camera, right now I simply don’t have the time to learn how to use it. So, I stick with a simple point-and-shoot and it’s almost always set on “auto”. And, you know what? That’s ok!
So, if you’re a photographer like me, then these tips are for you:
1. Take lots and lots of pictures! You just never know what treasure you may capture! Not only are digital cameras awesome because of the instant gratification, but you also have the luxury of viewing your pictures before you print them out. Gone are the days of sending away that roll of film and only getting 2 decent shots out of 24! And, you only print the pictures you love. So, snap away! Snap! Snap! Snap! The best pictures are often the ones you aren’t expecting!
2. Take advantage of Disney’s Photopass. If you’re anything like me, you spend a lot more time behind the camera lens than you do in front of it. If you’ve ever returned home from a family vacation and realized that there isn’t a single picture with you in it, you know what I mean. By taking advantage of the Photopass option at Disney, my family has gotten some wonderful family pictures that we wouldn’t have otherwise – and they are family treasures to us!
3. Ask the Photopass photographers to take a picture using your camera. Maybe you’re on a tight budget and can’t really afford the Photopass option this time. That’s ok. The Photopass photographers will gladly take a picture of your family using your camera, if you ask.
4. And, if you’re a hyper-planner like me, another thing you might want to do is make a list of the pictures that you definitely want to take before your trip. I make mine with checkboxes, so I can check off the pictures as I’ve taken them. I organize my list by park, breaking it down into sections as well. Yes, I’m kinda crazy like that.
Do you have any great photography tips? Since I’ll be traveling to Disney again in a few short weeks, I’d love to hear them!
