Stop the roller-coaster!

Life has just been so busy lately.  I got most of my blog content moved over here, and then I ran out of time to blog!  I thought I'd take some time to make a quick post and get caught up a bit ---

Yesterday was a crazy day!  We left home in the morning to drop Ashley off at a teen luncheon with our homeschool group.  We aren't part of our local group, but joined the group in the next county over.  Unfortunately, we haven't been able to do a lot with them yet.  She loved meeting some new kids her age.  The had lunch and played games (she said they just laughed and laughed).

While she was there, Gracie, Ian, and I went out for lunch (at Pizza Hut to use a Book-It coupon) - then went to use Sallie's gift certificate at the pet store - and to Michael's to look for some crafty things for Gracie and I to work on.  Gracie picked out some things to make a picture frame, and we bought a set of those knitting looms and some yarn.  We often watch movies in the evenings, and I wanted to find something that we can do with our hands while the tv is on (something that's NOT electronic).  We both started working on hats (that's all the directions they give you).  If they turn out, I'll be sure to share pictures.

We picked Ashley up and headed to eye doctor appointments for Gracie and me.  We both need new prescriptions.  I can't seem to find a picture of hers, but here are the ones I'm getting:

I was in need of something a bit more trendy!  We're trying a plastic frame for Gracie this time too.  Hers are brown and pink.  It wasn't til later in the day that we realized that she wasn't feeling well (she was acting very tired) - so Ashley and I basically picked her glasses, with very little say-so from her.  Poor kid.  I just hope she likes them when she comes.  With her tiny, Asian nose, it's very difficult to find glasses that stay up on her; so we'll see . . .

From there, we ran to Wal-mart for a few things; then headed to Gracie's violin lessons.  Poor girl could barely stand up.  She slept the whole way home.  When we got home, I realized that she had a fever.

So, this morning, I took her to see the family doctor.  I knew it was too good to be true - Ashley was sick a couple of weeks ago, last week it was Ian's turn.  I'm becoming a familiar face at the pharmacy.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
I'm ready for spring!  I just don't like winter very much.  We're all sitting around in the living room (where the pellet stove is), covered up, and freezing!  I don't like to be cold.

Gracie's chillin', watching old episodes of The Brady Bunch.
Ashley's on her computer, after spending some time working through the college and careers guide from EDUDPS (a Crew product).
Ian is playing a computer game.

As for me, I need to go and get some TOS work done.  We're diligently working on the 2010 Schoolhouse Planner (wait 'til you see it!)  I'm also putting together a new series of unit studies - these are going to be fun, fun fun!  AND, we're getting ready to start the try-out process for 2010-11 Homeschool Crew (wanna try out?!)

We love the looms! Makayla has knit hats on them including for her dolls. Here are pictures:

One she made for herself:

They are easy once you get the hang of it.

Hope things settle down for you soon!

I sure hope that Gracie is feeling better. No fun being sick, especially this time of year. Sounds like you've been very busy!

I'm ready for spring too! The knitting loom sounds fun, I think I've seen those. I crochet, mostly in the winter - to keep my hands busy;)

I cannot wait to see next year's planner!

We love those looms too! J made hats with them for relatives for Christmas this year. There is a very active Yahoogroup that shares patterns once you get past hats.

I hope Gracie is feeling better soon!

Aw, I hope Gracie is feeling better. Tell her I understand about skinny noses. Mine is big in profile, yet skinny (especially at the bridge) and I always have to get the kind with nose pieces and am rather limited in my choices. Actually, my current pair of bifocals is a YOUTH size tortoise-shell style metal frame! Makes a lot of sense, doesn't it? ;)

Hey Heidi,
I wanted to come by and ask you to specifically pray for a friend of a friend of mine who is in the process of adopting a child from Haiti.
She has had NO word that is concrete about him except that he has no food or water. Her blog address is linked to my most recent post, if you have time to check her out.
I just know that you know how it feels to have your children so far away while you wait to bring them home, and I know how close adoption is to your heart, so I just felt led to ask you to specifically pray. Soooo sad. :(
