Surprise! Surprise! I'm joining the Fit Mommy Meme!

My dear friend Denise (whom I've never met in person, but I love her anyway!) started a new meme - Fit Mommy Friday - and I'm going to join in the fun.  Yes, I called fitness "fun"!

I've struggled with weight for most of my adult life - but the worst of it was after my tubal pregnancy.  Looking back, I realize that I'm a stress-eater.  When things have me stressed or depressed, I eat.  So, this past year, which came with LOTS of stress, brought on a weight gain that I'm not thrilled about.  I had lost a nice amount of weight in the spring of 2008 that I was keeping off quite well. All of a sudden, this past summer, it started creeping back on.  So, as much as I'd like my goal for 2010 to be to remain stress-free, I don't think that's possible.  Instead, I'll just concentrate really hard on NOT stress-eating.

I'm going to be participating in Fit Mommy Friday on the BEGINNER LEVEL.  Here's what Denise has to say about this level:
Level One: The Beginner level. This is for those of you who are brand new to exercise or for those who are not already participating in a consistent fitness program. Your goal should include at least 1 mild form of exercise per day (walking, low impact cardio) as well as one nutritional goal; drinking 8 glasses of water per day, keeping a food journal, eating a small salad with dinner, no chocolate for the week (did I say that?), etc.

My girls  got a Wii for Christmas, and I ordered myself a Wii Fit Plus.  It should be arriving TODAY.  So, my goals for this coming week will be to exercise each day and to eat better.  Simple, but doable. Each Friday, we're to post our success stories (or our not so successful stories) and encourage one another as we work toward becoming more fit.

Woohoo!! *High Fives* I'm so glad you decided to "descend into madness" with us, Heidi! ;)

I'm a big time "stress-eater" too. Feeling nervous? Eat a candy bar. Feeling angry? Two candy bars. And a bowl of cereal. Upset? Lonely? Depressed? Lock the pantry!!! LOL

I think one of my goals for the coming week will be to do something constructive whenever I'm in the "binge" mood. ;) Now that'll be tough!

I think I'm inspired! I'm hoping to walk 4-5 days this week (3 done so far) and am trying to eat at least three servings of fruits and/or vegetables each day. I am wondering if the sweet potato muffins I made count toward that vegetable serving....:)

The Wii Fit Plus is so much fun. Well, the games are. I haven't had a chance to check out the rest of it yet. (We received it as well as several other Wii games for Christmas). I've done the fitness with the Wii Fit; I look forward to seeing the changes they have made with plus.

One day at a time, we can do it!

Hi Heidi!
Welcome to Blogger! I think you'll love it here.
I'm not a stress eater, but I eat things that are altogether unhealthy for me. The bad thing is, my health has really taken a hit for it. My cholesterol levels last year were through the roof.
So, all of that to say, I'm starting over again with better choices and exercise (HATE exercise). Hopefully, our 2010 will be a healthy one!
