Here’s how I should be spending mine:
- Cleaning my house
- Doing some laundry and starting to pack for Florida
- Making some Florida packing lists
- Working on a project for TOS, which requires more planning pages (I’m afraid – after the Schoolhouse Planner – I’m all planned out!)
But, instead, here’s what I’m doing:
- Checking Facebook
- Answering e-mails (well, that’s kinda work, really)
- Rearranging Gracie’s bedroom
- Obviously, blogging!
Ashley is spending the night with a friend from church. I’ll need to go and pick her up later this afternoon. Said friend’s mom is a new Premier Designs consultant – I have a catalog in the car and must decide what I want to order. It’s all so pretty!
Gracie is at the beach with my parents for the weekend. She called home this morning and sounds like they’re having a lot of fun. She found some great shells and said she saw a “king crab and a regular crab”. Thank goodness for her Swimming Creatures of the Fifth Day book (I packed it for her to take along to reference!)
Ian has been spending his morning playing and watching “Night at the Museum”. I do believe I’m going to steal the tv soon, though, and take my computer to the living room and do some multi-tasking. I think we’ll pop in the free copy of “Amazing Grace” that we got in Cincinnati a few weeks ago and I’ll actually start work on those forms.
It’s a pretty, sunny day here. I bet Brian will do some gardening. Our blackberry bushes are COVERED with blossoms. It’s amazing to me how they took off compared to the blueberries. I’m thinking we may have to dig the blueberries up and move them.
Speaking of blackberries, does anyone have a simple recipe for Blackberry Jam (with the seeds, please)? I love that stuff and think we’ll have plenty of berries to make our own this year.
Well, I really should stop playing and get to work!
Please tell me what YOU are doing today!

I have a great and simple recipe for blackberry jam and will get it out and e-mail that to you later.
I am doing the same. I should be working around the house, getting organized but the rainy day outside makes me want to stay in front of the computer with my hot tea and laze the day away.
Enjoy the rest of your day!
well, clearly, I am blogging. lol, but I have also been doing some house cleaning. There is a pile of ironing staring back at me. Then we are off to some graduation parties (Univ of New Mexico) and then we will call it a day. The kids were striving earlier, so now THEY are cleaning the house (2 oldest. They know how to vacuum, dust, clean glass doors, pick up room, empty dishwasher, dry dishes, fold laundry. Not that they are doing all of this today, but there is a benefit to training early!) They both just told me they are not going to strive. lol. Job well done kids! Time for me to go iron!
Hi Heidi,
From The University of Georgia Cooperative Extension book, "So Easy to Preserve"
9 cups crushed berries
6 cups sugar
sterilize canning jars. Combine berries and sugar. Bring slowly to a boil, stirring occasionally until sugar dissolves. Cook rapidly to, or almost to, jellying point, depending on whether a firm or soft jam is desired. As mixture thickens, stir frequently to prevent sticking. Pour hot jam into hot jars, leaving 1/4-inch headspace. Wipe jar rims and adjust lids. Process 5 minutes in a Boiling Water Bath.
It's a great book...better than Ball in my opinion. Just make sure you sterilize jars first since you are only processing the jam for 5 minutes to seal.
It sounds yummy. Let me know how it goes.
SOunds like a good day. We just got back from the zoo and I blogged about it with lots of pictures here:

Tons of fun!
sounds like my Saturday...pretty unproductive except for the dessert I made to take to a dinner.
We spent part of the day at the local Tractor Supply store for a 4-H fundraiser - bake sale. We did well. In the middle of it all I went and cleaned hubby's grandmother's house like I do every week. I came home and started planning school work - after unloading the truck - for next week. Shaking this up and trying something new. I had dinner at my in-laws who live across the driveway. Now I'm on the computer wasting time when I SHOULD be sound asleep. It's been a good day.
