2010 Gratitude Challenge – November 9

2010GratitudeChallengeButton Today I’m thankful for where we live.  Don’t get too excited because you probably won’t hear me saying that too often.  Sometimes I am VERY discontent here.  We live in a very small town and there really are not a lot of opportunities for my homeschooled children.  Often I wish we lived a little closer to a city so we’d be closer to the excitement.

Events that have taken place over the last year and a half or so have really led me to believe that maybe God was preparing our hearts for an eventual move.  If that is the case, I think I’ll be fine with it.  But, for now, we are here.

Having company here spending the week with us – and being able to show them some of the things that we see on a daily basis – has really made me appreciate how beautiful this area truly is.  Most of the fall leaves are down, and I really don’t find this time of year to be all that pretty or encouraging.  But, when someone else ooh’s and ahh’s about it, it makes me see it in a different light.

So, all that to say – I’m thankful that God has put me here, right now.

You do live in a very beautiful part of the USA but I can understand your reservations in living there. ; )

Bloom where you're planted, Sweetie. (((hug)))

I think just the fact that YOU are to be found in your small town makes it appealing enough for me to want to go there... :o)

I think Paul said it best ~

"Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content." (Php. 4:11)

Sometimes it takes others to point out what is right under our noses. LOL

Have a blessed day, Heidi!

I understand the occasional discontentment about where you've been planted, but as long as you're not dwelling on that and allowing it to take root, it's okay. Sometimes it takes a little more effort to bloom where you're planted, but it can be done. ;)

It is fun to see your area through someone else's eyes. It reminds me of the fresh perspective of a child. :)

My in laws offered up the back 5 acres on their 10 acres of land but I couldn't do it. Even though it is only 30 min south of our house, it is 30 minutes away from everything. I understand!

Everywhere I've lived has had its positives as well as its negatives. I, too, prefer to dwell on the positives and be content. :)

Some days...I'd rather be living somewhere else. Others days, I'm so thankful to be where we are.

I'm kind of lucky, I am in a small town but I can drive to some of the most beautiful remote mountain areas, and I can also get into New York city in less than an hour. I'm so glad for that. If I have to be in a place where it snows, it may as well be here. I'm glad you feel content today.
