Holiday Bliss 2010 – December 6th

1105136_christmas_balls First of all, today is my mom’s birthday.  So, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY MOM!

Today I wanted to share about a holiday tradition at our house - - -  each year, we like to add a new Christmas movie to our collection.  In the evenings in December that we’re all at home, we like to sit down with a good Christmas movie.

The-Christmas-Hope Yesterday, the kids and I were out and about after church and picked up this one ===>

The Christmas Hope is the 3rd movie in the series based on books by Donna VanLiere.  I love Donna’s books (you can actually win one on my blog right now) – and the movies are great too (real tearjerkers).

We watched this movie last night and loved it.  I just love Donna’s ability to weave a story together – tying people to each other in ways you wouldn’t expect.  I’d definitely recommend this movie.

As a matter of fact, if you have tv service in your home, Lifetime is featuring Donna’s movies all month.  You can see the schedule here.  Also, if you haven’t yet read the books, there’s an opportunity to win the entire set here

Tell me about your favorite Christmas movies.  What would you recommend?

My Holiday Bliss today is "It's a Wonderful Life". That's my absolute favorite. I'm a sap for all of the old ones. Miracle on 34th St, Holiday Inn, White Christmas, The Bells of St. Mary's, and of course, A Christmas Story. Getting more current, I love Polar Express, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, The Muppet Christmas Carol, Christmas Vacation, and Home Alone.

Does the movie follow the book?

I have The Christmas Hope sitting on my shelf here and I'm really hoping to get to it in the next couple of weeks but I'm quickly running out of time! Anyway, after having read and watched The Christmas Shoes, I'm wondering how closely the other movies follow the books.

It's a silly silly movie, but I like Elf...for laughs! But my all time fave must see EVERY Christmas is How the Grinch Stole Christmas (orig version!)

One year we watched Elf so much we almost could quote the silly thing! LOL!!

I would LOVE to win this! We watched the Little Angel last night...it is from the Book. Such a sweet story about a little Angel, his gift to the Christ child and how God used his humble gift!!!

Today is my mom's birthday too :) Happy Birthday to your mom. I'll have to check into this movie too. We like to add to our collection. We went to watch a couple different ones the other day and realized they are VHS LOL I had to go buy them on DVD. I love all the oldies....but I also like the Santa Claus movies with Tim Allen. We watched the Christmas Cottage Saturday night. Didn't get to one last night or tonight.

Happy Birthday to your Mom!! I love The Nativity Story. I can watch it anytime of year and enjoy it, not just at Christmas, it's such a beautifully told story on DVD. I cry every time I watch it!
