I love music! If you’ve been following my blog for any length of time, you may have noticed that Ashley and I love to go to concerts. I used to sing in church a lot too. My favorite genre of music is most definitely Christian contemporary. I like to know that I’m listening to and singing songs that will lift me up and inspire me, while worshiping God at the same time. So, when the opportunity to review Rebecca St. James’ new cd – I Will Praise You – arrived, I jumped at the chance. I’ve reviewed music in the past, but this is the first time I’ve been blessed to receive a Christian cd for review.
Rebecca St. James charts yet another new course with I Will Praise You, a new collection of worship songs she terms “ her most personal recording to date.” From the opening notes of track one, listeners are offered a welcoming connection with Rebecca’s recognizably authentic vocal warmth and delivery. More than anything, I Will Praise You represents the latest steps in Rebecca’s life long journey towards the presence of God.
So, what did I think? I loved it! Though I do not own any of Rebecca’s earlier releases, I’ve been listening to her music for years on Christian radio. I like her sound – and I was not at all disappointed with this album. The first song is upbeat and fun; the second song is one that I already knew (sung by various other singers); and the rest of the songs are easy to catch on to. I found myself singing along after just the first time through some of them.
Here’s what Rebecca has to say about I Will Praise You (I have to share this because I just LOVE her accent!):
You can get a sneak peek at this album by checking out Rebecca’s Listening Party. I’d also encourage you to visit her website and “like” her on Facebook. The cd can be purchased at Amazon.com for only $10.97 (MP3 download available or $9.99).

Thanks for this opportunity, Heidi :) Right now, MercyMe really speaks to me -- but I'm hard pressed to have an all-time favourite singer or song.
I thought I was already a follower -- but apparently not. Anyway, I am now:)

One of my all-time favorite contemporary Christian songs is "You Never Let Go." It's become sort of a theme song for our family.
I visited the Listening Party and think that "I Will Praise You" will become a new favorite.

I'm not sure who my favorite is right now...I've gotten away from listening to them full-time. Not as much time for music as I use to have. I remember Rebecca's music from the past though so it's exciting to hear how much you liked this new one. I'm sure this would fast become my favorite.
