Mother Knows Best . . . or does she?

Blogorail Logo
Welcome to those of you joining me from YourFirstVisit.net and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the 4th stop on our Magical Blogorail.

I’m hopping aboard with my friends from Magical Blogorail TEAL this week.  We’re talking about overlooked Disney villains that we think deserve more park exposure.

When the teal loop posted the need for a replacement this month, I hesitated.  I mean, I’m happy to step in and help out a fellow loop full of Disney friends; but villains?!  I don’t like villains.  Quite frankly, they scare me.  In fact, my dislike of the Disney villains is the main reason I wrote this post back in March.

I did a Google search for a list of Disney villains.  I mean, surely there has to be at least one that is a bit less threatening or scary than the rest, right?  Maybe I’d find one that I could actually tolerate writing about so I could help out my friends on their loop.

And that’s when I remembered the villain from one of my family’s all-time favorite Disney movies – Tangled . . . Mother Gothel.

Sure, she’s horrible and her motives are far from pure; but, at least in her “enchanted” state, she really doesn’t look too scary.

I’m sure there are a lot of us (especially women) who would find ourselves tempted by that special “fountain of youth” flower, right?  I mean, even I dye my hair to cover those pesky grays.  So, I can totally see getting caught up in that, and finding it hard to resist.  Not that I’m defending her or anything . . .

But, Mother Gothel was the inspiration behind my column over at Your Highway in the SkyMother Knows Best.

And the fact that I am a mom with kids who are quickly growing up and wanting to be more independent, makes the whole “Mother Knows Best” sentiment have even greater meaning!

I’ve never seen Mother Gothel in the parks.  Have you?  While I’ve always been anti-villain, I’d actually love to meet her and have my picture taken with her!  Wouldn’t that make for a great new button for my column?!

Yep, as villains go, I’d definitely say she deserves a bit more exposure in the parks.  I’d much rather run into her than Maleficent, Jafar (who we have seen but avoided), or Chernabog. What about you?

Thank you for joining me today. Your next stop on the Magical Blogorail Loop is A Disney Mom's Thoughts.

In our house, Mother Gothel is called Mother Gawful. Not on purpose either, it is just the way Emily "heard" it when we saw the movie the first time and Joey and Hayley followed in her footsteps. We have never seen Mother Gothel in the parks, but I know Emily would have a few choice words to say to her about her treatment of Rapunzel! :-)

Thanks for commenting! I'm glad I'm not the only one who kinda likes her. LOL

I would really like if they had Mother Gothel in the parks, too. I think that would be a great meet and greet!
