Hungry for Pizza? Try Pillsbury® Artisan Pizza Crust!

PillsburyBefore leaving for our trip to Florida, the kids and I were anxious to try the new Pillsbury® Artisan Pizza Crust with Whole Grain.  Normally, when we make pizza for supper, we make a homemade crust.  But, sometimes we want a quicker option – especially when we’re hungry for pizza at lunchtime.  We’ve used Pillsbury® crusts in the past (in fact, let it be known right here, right now that I have a crush on the Pillsbury Doughboy and have since childhood! And I’m not ashamed to admit it!)

We found the Artisan crust at our local grocery store and got one to try.  I wanted to try something different from our traditional pizza, so I went with a Mexican pizza theme.  I rolled the crust out on a cookie sheet (we actually prefer our homemade pizza in a rectangular shape, for some reason, and these crusts are perfect for that).  I wasn’t sure if I wanted to add pizza sauce or not – I ended up adding a thin layer of sauce.  I browned a pound of ground beef, and added a taco seasoning packet and a little can of chilis to it.  I spread the meat layer over the sauce.  We topped it with a cheese mixture (the Mexican variety with the spices would be yummy for this) and baked it ‘til it was nicely browned.  I added taco sauce to mine.

It was actually enough for lunch one day and several leftovers.  I think some people would enjoy it topped with more traditional taco toppings – like lettuce, tomatoes, and sour cream.  My kids tend to lean toward being picky eaters, so we left that off.

OK, can I just say that I loved this pizza?!  It was enough of a change from the traditional pizza and made some great lunches!  I would highly recommend the Pillsbury® Artisan Pizza Crust with Whole Grain and will be purchasing it again for our family’s use.

If I won, I would make my favorite pizza with toppings that would include pineapple, sausage, Canadian bacon, black olives, and purple onions sliced thin. I would go light on the pizza sauce (that's how I like it) and heavy on the Mozzarella cheese. Sprinkle parmesan cheese and a little red pepper for a little extra zing and you've got one tasty pizza :)

Sounds so yummy! I don't know if a Canadian can win, but here goes anyway ;) We love taco pizza, I use salsa in place of the sauce and add green peppers, tomatoes and marble cheese and yes, we use sour cream :)

Hmmm. I'd possibly go with the favorite standby of turkey sausage and mushrooms. However, I do believe that taco pizza has made the list for next week's menu. It sounds delicious!

I'd go for pepperoni pizza because it's my son's favorite!

I've been craving just regular old pizza for a few months now, so I'd probably make that! Throw some grilled chicken on top and I am one happy pregnant lady!

I've been craving regular old pizza for a few months now, so I would probably just be boring and make that. Throw some grilled chicken on top and I am one happy pregnant lady!

My family loves pizza. We make homemade pizza every week. We all love BBQ Chicken Pizza, Homemade sausage and onion, Chicken bacon ranch, and pizza with everything! It's hard to say what kind we will make if we win. I guess whoever takes to gift card shopping will get to pick their favorite!

I love homemade pizzas. Being someone also worried about calorie intake, I believe making a pizza at home rather than having one from a restaurant, you reduce the number of calories quite a bit! The pizza I would love to make would include fresh tomatoes, basil and mozzarella cheese. Now I am hungry!

Boring crew here- fresh mozzarella, fresh tomato sauce, and my kids will only eat my pizza if it is OFF THE GRILL. I'd love to try this crust to see how it stands up to the fire! Thanks Heidi!!
